The motor shaft does have a flat, but it wasn't enough. I still think the shim foil affected the tightness of the set screw, and it loosened slightly during high acceleration rates while reversing directions. It could also be that the hole for the set screw is slightly worn. I just know using loctite fixes the problem and it doesn't come loose any more.

Does your motor shaft have a flat or is it round? With a flat you should be able to make a modest setscrew work without all the hassles. Round shafts are good for things like volume control pots. Flats or keys are much better when you need to transfer significant torque and power.

I plan on it. I want to find a white background so the pendulum is easily visible first. I also need to figure out the best way to record the video since I don't do it too often.

Yeah, I looked at three companies - Igus, KabelSchlepp, and Gortrac. The one I ended up ordering was the only one that met all my requirements. I needed fairly flat carrier because the space between the cart and shelf was small. The snap open carrier was too thick. I also needed it to support two feet of cable horizontally, and this was the only brand that would do it. The other brands only supported about 1.5 feet.

There is another cable carrier company I have used called igus that has no minimum order and they have a really good selection of styles. Many of them snap open so you dont have to remove connectors from your cables. www.igus.com
